Wayne Goodwin, with over 40 years as a millinery designer, he is in the process of establishing a new millinery business in London, as well as building an online profile; he has a fully equipped professional millinery work studio.
Drawing upon the experience of working in the millinery industry, with attention to detail, he combines the historical, Avant Garde, extreme designs and finishes, which could be used for theatrical productions. With Haute couture, classic Ascot pieces, with the mother of the bride.
Apprenticed to Philip Somerville in Bond Street in the 1980s, after 4 years Wayne left Philip to go on to create his own collections under the name of Wayne Martyn. Having success with collections in:-
Wayne has also created hats that were used in magazine fashion shoots. While also making hats for the B.B.C. for their productions, this seeded his interest in theatrical millinery.
In the late 1980s Wayne joined the house of John Boyd in Beauchamp Place, London, at the time Wayne became aware that John Boyd was looking for an in house designer to work for him. Staying with him for over 19 happy years, during this time, Wayne designed for High profile clients in couture style, for occasions that included Royal weddings & events, Royal Ascot, Fashion shows, Fashion shoots and weddings. This gave Wayne the opportunity to use and refine his millinery skills and iconic look of a Wayne Goodwin Hat. Indeed there are some examples of his work in the Victoria and Albert Museum; these pieces were created whilst at John Boyd.
